A south-eastward view towards Newtongrange and Gorebridge from a point a short distance to the east of Bonnyrigg on the cycle-path which occupies the trackbed of the Peebles Railway. The Scottish Mining Museum, formerly the Lady Victoria Colliery, is prominent on the left of the photo. 9th April, 2015.

Cardrona Station consisted of a single platform. No loop was provided. A goods yard was situated at the west end of the station. The station building and platform survived closure and have been renovated, and the building is now occupied by a shop. A car-park has been built on the former trackbed.

Running tender-first, ex-North British Railway Class S (LNER Class J37) 0-6-0 No. 64577 crosses the River Tweed and approaches Cardrona Station with the daily goods train from Peebles to Galashiels, circa 1960. [Hugh Ballantyne]
